Why are you a doula?

I have had six wonderful hospital midwife births and two magnificent home births. After six years of contemplation, I finally decided to become a doula and most recently started the pathway to midwifery. As a Latina, I am a native Spanish speaker and happy to provide culturally responsive doula services that draw from my own children’s births as well as best practices.  I am passionate about helping families navigate the flood of learning that comes with the addition of each child to their household. It is important to me to assist families in finding and asserting their natural authority and instincts on how to best birth and nurture their children. I know both first and second hand how painful the loss of a pregnancy and child is and how families need space and support to navigate perinatal loss.

I am honored to support families physically and emotionally but especially spiritually as in birth, postpartum and in perinatal loss we witness the awe inducing strength possessed within.

Additional projects/non-doula

Originally from NYC, I have been a transplant in the area for over 25 years and have personal relationships with many area providers

. I was a public school science teacher for nearly a decade but now homeschool our kids on our homestead. I am currently in nursing school and aspire to become a local midwife.
