our mission

Statement of Purpose:
We are a collective of independent doulas serving the Ithaca, NY and surrounding regions with comprehensive, non-judgmental, inclusive support services, including the following: birth, postpartum, breastfeeding, perinatal loss, abortion, miscarriage, adoption and/or other family transitions.

As members of the Ithaca Doula Collective (IDC), we commit to providing professional services to the community by engaging in the following:

• individual ongoing professional development and continuing education,

• adherence to a common code of ethics,

• mentorship,

• regular meetings,

• outreach and education in the community,

• providing culturally competent and inclusive care, and

• providing accurate and up-to-date information about our services and availability.

As a collective we are also committed to increasing access to doula care for ALL families and reducing health disparities in Tompkins County. We achieve this with:

• engaging with employers to encourage them to accept Doula Care as a part of their employee insurance plans

• educate the greater Ithaca community about the importance of Doula Care in regards to reducing health disparities

• offer sliding scale and free services when necessary, and

• establishing a scholarship fund for low-income families to access Doula Care
