“Meet the Doulas”

IDC hosts Meet the Doulas events all around the Ithaca area. This event is casual where doulas discuss birth, postpartum, and full spectrum support, along with frequently asked questions.

DUE TO COVID-19 WE ARE NO LONGER HOSTING IN PERSON GATHERINGS. WE ARE DOING OUR BEST TO MAKE SURE YOU FIND THE BEST DOULA SUITED FOR YOU!

​Here is why this event is so great:

  • You can come and learn what a doula is (and what we can do for you)!

  • You get to meet a whole bunch of awesome doulas at once (think: speed dating), which saves you lots of time by not having so many individual interviews.

  • That said, we are happy to also to set up a time to meet individually to see if we would be a good fit (think: first date).

  • We love to listen to your needs and answer any questions you have about your pregnancy, birth options, or childbirth education options, or just talk to get to know one another. (Doula is a Greek word that means "women who serve women").

  • It's FREE!! Come for a bit or come for the whole thing!

  • While we all adhere to the same code of ethics and scope of practice, we all have our own unique voice on how we approach our practices. Meeting us all at once allows you to see how we are the same and how we are different.

  • We want you to find the right fit! Many people are worried that if they interview more than one doula, they will offend the doulas they don't hire: NOT TRUE! If you don't feel comfortable with our care, we don't want to be there! Really....please hire the right fit. It matters.

  • Sometimes complimentary care providers will pop in to these events as well, which allows you to meet some more great people who are excited to support you in your pregnancy and postpartum period.
