General Structure for Doula Services:

As a postpartum doula, I provide nurturing care to the whole family, help ease the transition of adding a new member to your family, and refer to topic-specific experts where applicable. Perhaps most importantly, I’m here to help you find your footing as a new parent (or a second or third time parent - each transition is unique!).

I’ll help you:

  • build confidence in your skills as a parent to your specific child(ren)

  • stay connected & communicating with your partner during this transition

  • offer non-judgmental support & evidence-based information so you can make informed decisions based on your values

Together, we will create a solid foundation for the rest of your parenting journey.

Process for contracting my services:

  1. ~20 minutes on the phone to discuss

    1. the basics of what I can offer

    2. your particular situation & needs

  2. You complete the intake form

  3. ~60 min meeting; goals include:

    • Reviewing my role as a doula more in-depth

    • Reviewing your completed intake form, with a focus on your goals and concerns for the postpartum period

    • Review terms of agreement & rates more in-depth

  4. 48 hour “sleep on it” period → Agreement form due after this time

  5. We create your Postpartum Plan together!

I generally start with 12 hours of services in our initial Agreement (but could be more) with the option to add on as is mutually agreed upon. Typically I offer services in 1.5 - 4 hour blocks of time.

Specifically, as your postpartum doula, I can:

  • provide non-medical, physical, emotional, and educational support

  • assist with self-care recovery measures, provide information on mother and baby care, assist in caring for new baby & adjusting to new role

  • help parent(s) understand options + support in making choices

  • do light housework & basic errands

  • do meal prep to nourish birthing person & family

  • provide referrals to diagnose & help solve any problems related to breastfeeding and beyond

  • help care for older siblings and support them in the transition to bringing in new baby

  • support parents in communicating with and supporting each other during this critical time of transition

Why are you a doula? I fully believe parents deserve an abundance of support when adding a new member to their family. Even before getting pregnant with my first child, I understood the inadequacies of our social and economic systems that lead to isolation and not enough support for parents. I was on a mission to find something better and make sure that myself, my child, and my family as a whole had support from family, friends, and our community at large. I received doula care during and after the birth of my son and realized how transformative it was for us, and that I had the passion and the skillset to support families in this way, too.

I am a postpartum doula specifically because, while I believe everyone deserves a birth doula and they are an incredibly important part of a birth team, I have also seen how critical support in the initial weeks and months after birth are for protecting the physical, mental, and emotional health of the birthing person, baby, and family as a whole. Postpartum doula support sets up a strong foundation for a family to build on and I am honored to offer these services.

Additional projects/non-doula services:

I am a certified yoga instructor and trained co-counselor. I am constantly weaving in my learnings from both of these practices into my support services for postpartum families.

I am also co-leading a team that is building a parent resource center (to be opened in the next year or so in the Ithaca area) that will serve as a homebase for parents to develop community, and access education & resources to enhance wellbeing - because when parents are supported, families thrive.

Fee Structure: Sliding scale $18-35 per hour for postpartum care. I am open to barter/trade options for services, please inquire.
